Appointments 2.0
This post is for threading with Trafalgar Law anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals (voice or written) to get in contact with him for personal conversations. This will be used primarily for 'placement' threads such as: someone left a present or 'by the way, come to this party on such-and-such' or the like.
Note: When making a new thread, please title it like such:

July 1st // Action
Noted. [Smile] Though I'll take that risk.
[And then a shifting of mood.]
You speak to Shikamaru yet?
[Maybe not quite how Lupin would have expected this topic to be broached... but... the other man had to have noticed by now that Law and Shikamaru had history and the pirate was protective of the younger man.
Not boy.
Shikamaru was no child. Not an adult by many other's reckon (by Law's yes - many a pirate was younger), but boy was simply the wrong thing to call him. He was a man in so many things and wise beyond his years, and in so many others painfully young and coming into himself and that manhood.]
July 1st // Action
[He nods and puffs thoughtfully on his, thinking once more about the startling mature young man and their conversation the night before.] I was planning on tracking him down, but he found me first. He's..very insightful.
[And not someone he would have ever considered speaking to otherwise. Most of the population in Luceti hovered around being half of his age, which made interactions awkward at best. There was that gap in age, experience, and in many instances skill level--it unnerved him to know that all of these kids could best him in a one on one fight any day. But he came to understand many things about his fellow residents during the storm, and was starting to wonder if he would be able to forge a niche alongside of them.
Zenigata had accused him of going straight in their last conversation. Maybe the grumpy yet determined old man was right.]
...he wasn't one to play around either, but he's cool. I think I owe him too.
July 1st // Action
[The age gap also unsettled Law a bit. While he was on the older end of the spectrum of 'young people', being in his twenties, it was a little unnerving that so many were so young.
He had said as much to Adele when he was interviewing her for the clinic. While the people here were skilled, exceptionally skilled, he had been worried about the simple lack of life experience to help buffer some the emotional challenges that a job in the clinic would bring. He had wanted Adele as a mentor figure just as much as for her surgical skill.]
... man needs some more adult friends in his life, you know. Especially those that can help him let his hair down a little.
[Metaphorically speaking of course... though, it might be nice for Shikamaru not to rock the pineapple tail look so often.]
July 1st // Action
[And it made his world look positively idyllic in comparison, even with its darkness and corruption. He couldn't feel bad for Shikamaru for long once his intelligence and skills became apparent, but he had to wonder about what it was like to grow up so quickly. From the way he acted, it was almost as if the young man had never even had a chance to be a child.
Growing up on the front lines did things to a young person, he knew, but in the end it was the sheer difference in culture that was the divide. He had no right to judge, especially since he started his career as a thief when he was even younger than much of the population.
He flashed law a quick smile at that last part, understanding the unspoken point.]
...but that doesn't matter here. I noticed that about him too, actually. It's why I invited him to join me for coffee sometime.
July 1st // Action
Too young. Even knowing that it was part of the entire world's culture, being a part of it, even briefly, had left Law with the opinion he had the right to judge that part of shinobi culture.]
Good. That's good to hear.
[...
Alright, now we come to it.]
Mister Lupin, what happened in there? Shikamaru and the others told me some of it, [Including that and how you died.] but not exactly everything.
July 1st // Action
He did appreciate it, though. Everyone else had been straight up business since he got back...save Fujiko. But then, Law would know that.
Lupin frowns thoughtfully at the question, dropping the light hearted act completely.]
There wasn't much extra that I heard, in truth. Just...
Two people were talking about the one's niece--no names were mentioned. Instead, the one stated that they had learned everything they wanted from her, and that 'The Luceti Operation' has not been a complete waste.
The order was given to remove her from the city.
...That's all I have.
July 1st // Action
[Heavy frown. The Luceti Operation hadn't been a complete waste?
Now what could that mean? They already knew that the enclosure had given the Malnosso advances in Shifting due to the experiments that the village were subjected to, and that the villagers made formidable soldiers.]
July 1st // Action
[But it bothered him. Not only was there the implication that the division within the Malnosso's ranks ran wider than they had anticipated, there was the statement that the game had stakes much higher than any of them bargained for. He didn't like being a pawn in anyone else's game.]
July 1st // Action
They won't keep us waiting long. I give it a few months at most.
[It kept getting bigger. Those stakes. The more they learned, the graver things seemed, and the more questions that arose to take their place.
It was disturbing, how big it was getting, really. It didn't bode well.]
July 1st // Action
Lupin puffed away irritably at his cigarette as he contemplates the scale of this. It could very well lead to war--and he was no soldier, as his recent stunt proved. Even when the re-anchoring incident happened and Lupin firmly believed that he was a spy for the New Republic, he was never a soldier. His rank of Commander in that lifetime was all because of the deeds he did on the sidelines.
The one time he was involved in a battle nearly killed him--but, that was a different lifetime, and a lie.]
Hopefully they give us enough time to breathe on this round. We all have some recuperating to do...and thinking.

Mister Law. Can I ask you for your opinion on something?

July 1st // Action
[Har har...deadman jokes, but the obvious power divide was starting to get to him. Even if ammunition weren't scarce, his bullets did little to the worst of their foes--and he never took well to relying on others.]

[...]
If you want, I know a variety of people willing to be instructors. I'm willing to get in contact with them if you'd like.
July 1st // Action
However, adaptation might be the best policy. The main reason he hadn't taken up learning the Jitte from Smoker was two-fold. One, Smoker didn't want Lupin using Zenigata's weapon against him, and Two, his hands were his best tool as a thief. While he wasn't afraid to throw a few punches, he didn't want to do anything that was risky enough to cause real damage.
Even with his misgivings, it wasn't a bad idea.
The magic was another tool he had considered, but his conversations with Harry Dresden proved that he was liable to take a scientific approach to the task. The simple trick Harry taught him with the chalk circle was going to face rigorous testing once he found a skilled and open minded person to assist him. But that was simple, borderline mundane, and based on belief in its abilities. Anyone could do it, like the filial magic.]
...Hold up. I was under the impression that most of the magic here that wasn't grounded to this world wasn't accessible to most people.
[He might be wrong, but he never bothered paying much attention to it after he shot the initial idea down.]

[Clearly he needed to do more research--or that other thing that was just mentioned.]
You know what? Maybe it is a good idea for you to put out your feelers, because I have no idea where to even begin. Just don't go out of your way to do it, okay? Everyone's been under the gun lately, and stressing out. [Adele. Fujiko. He had reasons to suspect Shikamaru...and Law himself.]
I do appreciate all of this. Really.
July 1st // Action
Alright. [An exhale of smoke.] I promise I won't go too far out of my way. [A silent nod and acknowledgement of the stress. And then a smile.] Heh, we're all due a vacation. I would personally love to go fishing.
No problem.
July 1st // Action
Fishing sounds great. I've been wanting to do that for a while too. [Not
withstanding his promise to do so with certain parties.]
You're welcome to join me for a smoke or coffee, Law. [Like he offered to Shikamaru, because he enjoyed the man's company and it seemed fitting.] Anytime.
July 1st // Action
[His boat full of people. It would be the closest thing to sailing again with a crew of his own.]
You know... I would greatly enjoy that.

It's been a while since I last went on a relaxing cruise...I think we can gather enough people to make an expedition of it.
