Appointments 2.0

This post is for threading with Trafalgar Law anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals (voice or written) to get in contact with him for personal conversations. This will be used primarily for 'placement' threads such as: someone left a present or 'by the way, come to this party on such-and-such' or the like.

...Any recs on how to not be dead weight next time around?

My suggestion? Train hard and find instructors who know their stuff. Work on developing yourself physically and mentally. Study the knowledge here, and add to your toolbox of skills. Hand to hand, weapons - you already know how to use a gun, add something like a blade to your arsenal. There are skills you can pick up here that you wouldn't be able to anywhere else - like magic, and not only filial magic.

[He had considered those options months ago, but shot them all down because he didn't want to become adjusted to a tool that he wouldn't be able to take home with him. It was a refusal to adapt, he knew, but he didn't want to slack on working the only heist that was possible in Luceti. Escape.

However, adaptation might be the best policy. The main reason he hadn't taken up learning the Jitte from Smoker was two-fold. One, Smoker didn't want Lupin using Zenigata's weapon against him, and Two, his hands were his best tool as a thief. While he wasn't afraid to throw a few punches, he didn't want to do anything that was risky enough to cause real damage.

Even with his misgivings, it wasn't a bad idea.

The magic was another tool he had considered, but his conversations with Harry Dresden proved that he was liable to take a scientific approach to the task. The simple trick Harry taught him with the chalk circle was going to face rigorous testing once he found a skilled and open minded person to assist him. But that was simple, borderline mundane, and based on belief in its abilities. Anyone could do it, like the filial magic.]

...Hold up. I was under the impression that most of the magic here that wasn't grounded to this world wasn't accessible to most people.

[He might be wrong, but he never bothered paying much attention to it after he shot the initial idea down.]

Depends on the magic and how it's performed. Some of it is very accessible to people not from the world it originated from.

[Clearly he needed to do more research--or that other thing that was just mentioned.]

You know what? Maybe it is a good idea for you to put out your feelers, because I have no idea where to even begin. Just don't go out of your way to do it, okay? Everyone's been under the gun lately, and stressing out. [Adele. Fujiko. He had reasons to suspect Shikamaru...and Law himself.]

I do appreciate all of this. Really.

[You're right on the mark there, Lupin.]

Alright. [An exhale of smoke.] I promise I won't go too far out of my way. [A silent nod and acknowledgement of the stress. And then a smile.] Heh, we're all due a vacation. I would personally love to go fishing.

No problem.

[Have a smile in return--he was doing so because everyone else wasn't, despite the shared hardships they faced.]

Fishing sounds great. I've been wanting to do that for a while too. [Not
withstanding his promise to do so with certain parties.]

You're welcome to join me for a smoke or coffee, Law. [Like he offered to Shikamaru, because he enjoyed the man's company and it seemed fitting.] Anytime.

I have a boat, you know. She sails six comfortably, but a couple more could be easily accommodated. If you wanted to bring a few more people along. We could make a day of it.

[His boat full of people. It would be the closest thing to sailing again with a crew of his own.]

You know... I would greatly enjoy that.

A boat, huh? [An amused huff. Lupin was entirely unsurprised. Law was a sailor...and a pirate if he was a rival to Luffy.]

It's been a while since I last went on a relaxing cruise...I think we can gather enough people to make an expedition of it.

I think we can, indeed. I know someone I would like to bring along personally.

I can think of two, maybe three--they're all mutual acquaintances, so you can guess who.

Mister Luke, Miss Adele... and Shikamaru?

[Good guess?]

[He's just going to laugh--it was see through enough, but he wanted to play a little.]

[Law breaks out into chuckles himself. Itachi and Shikamaru on a boat together, relaxing.

Might be good for them, but he'd warn the both of them first that the other would be present. Just so they didn't startle at each other's presence and they had a chance to duck out.]

[Lupin had no idea about the nature of Shikamaru's world or who all is from it, so the further implications were completely lost on him. It was a chance to see everyone in a less tense setting to him, and a chance to get to know people a little better.]

Just say the word whenever your boat is prepared, then. Anytime is good by me.

[Grinning around his cigarette.]
