016 [Action - forward dated to Saturday morning]

Sumire, quit it…

[Ah, the trials of pet ownership. Especially pet ownership on a Saturday morning when all you want to do is sleep in and the cat? The cat won’t quit until she gets a little love and attention.

Even if it means she has to use such underhanded tactics as kneading a guy in the breasts with her claws out.

breasts!?]

HNN!

[Yeah, he – wait, no, she, has nothing more to say about that. Female. Woman. Right. Like he… argh… SHE had a run in with Emporio Ivankov, and this is just a Devil Fruit effect. Rolling out of bed now. Staring in the mirror.]

[Okay. One thing more.]

… hnnn… great. I need coffee.

[And a bra. Or better yet, bindings. Icons really don’t do justice to how bosomy Law is for such a slender frame. OP woman you know.

Or she can just let it all hang free.

… so tempting right now…

But coffee first. PRIORITIES.]

[You can catch the lady in question stalking into town not too long after. You see… the clothing problem hasn’t stopped at bras and other lacy unmentionable related troubles. Comes with the territory of being a slender but muscular guy and suddenly finding yourself in possession of some damn hips – we don’t lie – but as tempting as just saying fuck it all and going stark naked, Law rather likes her dignity.

After that, it’s the flower shop for some seeds for herbs. Lunch is next… maybe she’ll even poke up to Cloud Nine out of curiosity, and then it’s time for some hardcore training just so she can get used to this body. Her center of gravity is so off right now.

After that… who knows? Lady Law here will be all over the place. Catch her wherever.]

[Law has an idea.]

... I'm going to guess hydrogen peroxide here. Am I right?
redjacketthief: (--lady--coy)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-27 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lupin winks playfully.] Law's got the right idea. I didn't make it explode by itself!

...if you were wondering why I'm not allowed in Jacksonville? That's why.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (...That one didn't count.)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-27 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
And I liked that bar in Jacksonville. [She huffs a sigh and resumes picking at the spider camera.]

[Okay, there definitely way more than one experiment effect at play here. Ah well... she can roll with that.]

... what is that you're working on, Miss Adele? Camera?
redjacketthief: (--lady--that's cute)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-28 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Lupin answers for her.] It's another techie thing that she's always playing with. What does this one do again, Angel?
the_other_leblanc: 20 (A breath.)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-28 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's a replacement spy camera for the one you lost on the last mission, Lupin. It was supposed to fly up onto one of the Third Party's ships and do a scan of it's workings so I could replicate it- but. You hurled the Hulk at the ship instead and we lost all the data.
deathsdoctorine: (Doubt | What do you mean?)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-28 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Oh, I see. I didn't know you had sent one up. [This is totally plausible with how chaotic things had been during the first attack, and that Law had been occupied with another ship.] Well... dear.

It was good timing that you hurled him when you did, though. That ship was setting up for a kamikaze attack.
redjacketthief: (--lady--look at this)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-28 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.] Sorry about that, then. Didn't realize you were working on a plan like that. I'm not much use in an actual fight, but getting creati e never hurts.

...Thanks, Law. It looked like they were up to something, but I couldn't tell just what it was.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (And then?)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-28 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I sent up three- only one made it to the actual ship. Hulk arrived not long after.

[She snorts and looks back over at Lupin.]

Though considering the alternative, the hulk-a-pult was a...smashing, success?

[She doesn't get the pun, all pop culture blind as she is, and is momentarily puzzled as she catches the play on words. Instead she nods and smiles.]

Certainly was. They never knew what hit them.
redjacketthief: (--lady--that's cute)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-28 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lupin chuckles at the joke.] At least it was my one good contribution to that mission. I don't think I'll jump so eagerly on the next one though. Seeing a Kraken once in a lifetime is enough.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (Well if it works. And that's an if.)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-28 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It did make me wonder if I shouldn't make a design based on octopods rather than insectoids. A little squid camera might be more useful in certain missions.
deathsdoctorine: (Mm? | A trip to Sabaody?)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-28 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Aa, they are not all so bad. Not like drafts, anyway.

... it was my second time facing that Kraken. [Law frowns briefly. She... well, he at the time, had warned Davis it was in those waters.] Well, I'm sure it was the same one. Same scars. Still pretty small, though. ... ones back home are much bigger, you see. I wonder if it was a baby.
redjacketthief: (--lady--that's wierd)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-28 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...that was your second time?

[Lupin is impressed, and mentally applauds Law for being a better man than he.]]

Even if it was a baby, it was pretty freaky for a person that's never seen one. Your work with it...was very impressive. [And frightening. Lupin never wanted to be on the recieving end of Law's wrath because of what he heard.]
the_other_leblanc: 20 (Sneaking up on me?)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-29 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
A baby?

...

Lupin make certain my coffee is more whiskey than coffee, please.
deathsdoctorine: (Depression | A rainbow of maybes)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-29 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. [To both things.]

... aaa... you think so? [There's a touch of hesitation there.] I wasn't able to get to it as fast as I should have.

[Which bothers her. If it had been her crew there...]
redjacketthief: (--lady--srs face)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-29 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm just gonna go for straight whiskey.

[Joking aside, however, he glances over at Law and nods in understanding.] I was belowdecks most of the time, so I didn't see everything, but you were a great leader on that mission. No one expected it--and I don't think anyone blames you for being human.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (A look.)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-29 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
You did more than anyone else could, Law. Feeling guilty over 'could have, would have, and should have' will only give you a migraine and a headache. Spend time you'd be bothered by it doing something productive. Like finding a way to explain to the bulk of the new feathers that the wings shouldn't be amputated.

[A beat.]

You kept us alive through hell on the sea, Law. No one could ask more of you.
deathsdoctorine: (Weary | What we've been through)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-29 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
... I know.

...

... [A very tired chuckle.]

Oh, the wings. Don't get me - aa, too late. Well. It's not been really a problem until the last two cycles. Aside from the Guide, I suppose we could have a direct statement put out by all the medical community on the subject. Might change a few minds.

But I know even then, that'll very difficult for some of them. Especially for those of the scientific and medical community. People like us? We take comfort in facts and figures. Evidence. Not faith. Because that what it boils down to in the end - the way the wings are set up logically shouldn't kill you if they are removed. [Yes, she's done studies of wing structure and neurological connections] But they do, and most incidents of wing removal happen in circumstances that are very difficult to document in. So there are only the first hand accounts.

Eventually most get it - they live here, they learn. Though [Snort] short of someone dying in front of them, I'm afraid some will never get the message.
redjacketthief: (--lady--contemplative)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-29 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lupin shrugs idly, but he is listening.]

There's no helping them if they're too stubborn, especially if they don't want to trust the data that is available. Then again, they might just be working to prove things to themselves because they refuse to accept the situation. It is pretty unbelievable...

A direct statement every cycle or so might be helpful, that way these new feathers have someone to ask for details. If they want facts? Make it so they have no reason to ignore the ones that we do have.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (A breath.)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-29 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...The last new feather that complained about the wings I instructed to pull out one of the feathers. It's not the kindest way to get the point across- but it did work. I don't think we should do that for every skeptic but...
deathsdoctorine: (Pensive | More than in your philosophy)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-30 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
... it might sway some of the more stubborn ones. [Small smile. Welp. If it takes some pain to nail things in, then that what it takes.]

A direct statement would help, but [Tapping fingernails against the bar] if ever a case arises like Miss Sayo's, where a wing has to be amputated due to medical reasons, and time and circumstances permit, I will invite as many medical personnel as safe into the operating room to observe and document what occurs. Just so it's settled that regardless of full medical support, the same symptoms set in just as fast.
redjacketthief: (--lady--that's wierd)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-05-30 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Man some people are gullible!

[It was a muttered remark tinged with amusement, but he returns to topic quickly.]

That's if it ever comes up again--which, hopefully, it won't. An audio or video recording might be helpful too, if it does, that way there is no doubt as to what happened. With so many people around, recollections and documentation can become a mess.
the_other_leblanc: 20 (And then?)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-30 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I think I have it recorded-

[She flips open her journal and slides it over for Lupin to see, playing the recording of Booth doing what she asked him to and swearing afterward for a long while.]

I honestly didn't think he would. And. If we need to record whatever treatments I do have several cameras with easily achievable footage for future reference.
deathsdoctorine: (Curious | I may just have nine lives)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-30 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my. Poor man. [Law shakes her head, though there is not much sympathy for the stubborn there.]

That would be very useful, Miss Adele, if such a situation ever does come up. Thank you.
