016 [Action - forward dated to Saturday morning]

Sumire, quit it…

[Ah, the trials of pet ownership. Especially pet ownership on a Saturday morning when all you want to do is sleep in and the cat? The cat won’t quit until she gets a little love and attention.

Even if it means she has to use such underhanded tactics as kneading a guy in the breasts with her claws out.

breasts!?]

HNN!

[Yeah, he – wait, no, she, has nothing more to say about that. Female. Woman. Right. Like he… argh… SHE had a run in with Emporio Ivankov, and this is just a Devil Fruit effect. Rolling out of bed now. Staring in the mirror.]

[Okay. One thing more.]

… hnnn… great. I need coffee.

[And a bra. Or better yet, bindings. Icons really don’t do justice to how bosomy Law is for such a slender frame. OP woman you know.

Or she can just let it all hang free.

… so tempting right now…

But coffee first. PRIORITIES.]

[You can catch the lady in question stalking into town not too long after. You see… the clothing problem hasn’t stopped at bras and other lacy unmentionable related troubles. Comes with the territory of being a slender but muscular guy and suddenly finding yourself in possession of some damn hips – we don’t lie – but as tempting as just saying fuck it all and going stark naked, Law rather likes her dignity.

After that, it’s the flower shop for some seeds for herbs. Lunch is next… maybe she’ll even poke up to Cloud Nine out of curiosity, and then it’s time for some hardcore training just so she can get used to this body. Her center of gravity is so off right now.

After that… who knows? Lady Law here will be all over the place. Catch her wherever.]

Wow.

Oh? [Grin widens.] What'd you do?

He kinda recognized me so I let him guess at my identity a bit.

Finally he realized I am, in fact, a man. And he had been lusting after a man. The Horror. [Amused sarcasm] Honestly, the way he reacted to the revelation was as if I had been swinging around on a stripper pole and then strutted up to give him a lap dance before that little bombshell hit home.

So he frantically began to deny everything, not aware his thoughts were showing. So I went about... [Sultry stretch.] reminding him of what really had transpired.

... I know.

...

... [A very tired chuckle.]

Oh, the wings. Don't get me - aa, too late. Well. It's not been really a problem until the last two cycles. Aside from the Guide, I suppose we could have a direct statement put out by all the medical community on the subject. Might change a few minds.

But I know even then, that'll very difficult for some of them. Especially for those of the scientific and medical community. People like us? We take comfort in facts and figures. Evidence. Not faith. Because that what it boils down to in the end - the way the wings are set up logically shouldn't kill you if they are removed. [Yes, she's done studies of wing structure and neurological connections] But they do, and most incidents of wing removal happen in circumstances that are very difficult to document in. So there are only the first hand accounts.

Eventually most get it - they live here, they learn. Though [Snort] short of someone dying in front of them, I'm afraid some will never get the message.

[It wouldn't be the first time she was identified by a practical stranger, though all the same she turns with a slight smile and tilt of the head.]

Are you looking for any kinds in particular? For cooking, medicine, or just aroma?

[Lupin shrugs idly, but he is listening.]

There's no helping them if they're too stubborn, especially if they don't want to trust the data that is available. Then again, they might just be working to prove things to themselves because they refuse to accept the situation. It is pretty unbelievable...

A direct statement every cycle or so might be helpful, that way these new feathers have someone to ask for details. If they want facts? Make it so they have no reason to ignore the ones that we do have.

All right. Please follow me. [She turns to lead the woman toward the back of the shop. Before they get all the way to the back, she stops, and turns at one of the rows of various herbs, and a few seed racks next to them.] The extra seeds are labeled here in packets, while some of the others are grown regularly. You're welcome to take what you'd like; there's plenty of variety.

Are there any you would particularly recommend?

[While Law has a general idea in mind of what she wants to do, she also wants to hear what others have to say on the subject.]
wise_maiden: (there is something curious about this)

Each plant has its particular uses. Although, if you're a beginner, it might be better to start with ones that don't need too much attention.

[Raine's starting to put it together that there's something familiar about this woman, though it's not something she has put her finger on just yet.]

...The last new feather that complained about the wings I instructed to pull out one of the feathers. It's not the kindest way to get the point across- but it did work. I don't think we should do that for every skeptic but...

[Do the exposed tattoos help?]

Very much a beginner, I'm afraid. My housemate gardens but this is the first time I've ever tried to grow something from scratch.

[Hence the familiarity. It'll come to her. Although she may be prudent and not point it out when she does. After all, who knows if he's aware of it?]

There's ginseng, and aloe plants are fairly easy to care for.
deathsdoctorine: (Pensive | More than in your philosophy)

[personal profile] deathsdoctorine 2012-05-30 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
... it might sway some of the more stubborn ones. [Small smile. Welp. If it takes some pain to nail things in, then that what it takes.]

A direct statement would help, but [Tapping fingernails against the bar] if ever a case arises like Miss Sayo's, where a wing has to be amputated due to medical reasons, and time and circumstances permit, I will invite as many medical personnel as safe into the operating room to observe and document what occurs. Just so it's settled that regardless of full medical support, the same symptoms set in just as fast.

[During Lady Law's outing, more towards the town than anything else, she may come across a peculiar sight indeed. That of a very raggedy looking pink-haired girl - curled up in a tight little ball with her knees drawn to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. She's peppered in wounds old and new - the latter still bleeding, yet she pays them no mind - and looks half drowned, if her messy tresses indicate. Her wrists are the worst off, red and raw and mixed with grime and blood alike. It's easy to tell she'd been handcuffed only minutes ago.

Perona barely registers her newfound freedom, and return to the village. She just breathes in and out quickly, savoring the crisp air in her lungs, and the fact that she wasn't in the water, or being held captive and tortured. She sniffs, her eyes brimming with tears, and exhales a shaky breath. All she wants to do is cry, but even that seems like it'll end badly. She's cried and yelled and tried so hard to escape before, and it didn't work, so what good would tears do now?

So, she just shakes, and sits, and breathes in and out - ignoring the world around her.]

Man some people are gullible!

[It was a muttered remark tinged with amusement, but he returns to topic quickly.]

That's if it ever comes up again--which, hopefully, it won't. An audio or video recording might be helpful too, if it does, that way there is no doubt as to what happened. With so many people around, recollections and documentation can become a mess.

[Nodding]

Those both sound good. Especially the aloe. [Dead useful, that.]

[Law is very much aware. That said, he - well, rather, she - has adapted so well to the female form that there might be some confusion.]

[Interesting. And distressing.

She's caught you on the journals. The Shichibukai's girl, right? Yes. That's right. And in poor shape.

Don't need three strikes to guess what's happened here. Same thing that happened to her nearly a year ago. Though the marks of torture seem less extreme.]

Oi!

[Don't mind the lady in the robe calling out and approaching. You are way more than a hot mess, gurl. You could use a doctor.]
the_other_leblanc: 20 (And then?)

[personal profile] the_other_leblanc 2012-05-30 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I think I have it recorded-

[She flips open her journal and slides it over for Lupin to see, playing the recording of Booth doing what she asked him to and swearing afterward for a long while.]

I honestly didn't think he would. And. If we need to record whatever treatments I do have several cameras with easily achievable footage for future reference.
deathsdoctorine: (Curious | I may just have nine lives)

Oh my. Poor man. [Law shakes her head, though there is not much sympathy for the stubborn there.]

That would be very useful, Miss Adele, if such a situation ever does come up. Thank you.
